
MEGAN RAPINOE of the United States scored a goal Sunday and was named top player and top goal-scorer in the Women’s World Cup in Lyon, France as the Americans defeated the Netherlands for their fourth title (Wikipedia/Noah Salzana).
The U.S. women’s national soccer team won another World Cup on Sunday, defeating Netherlands 2-0 to grab its fourth title as the best women’s “football” team on the planet.
Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle each scored for the Americans, who also won World Cups in 1991, 1999 and 2015.
Rapinoe was honored as the top player and top goal-scorer in the tournament, whose finals took place in Lyon, France.
To advance to the finals, the American defeated Thailand, Chile, Sweden, Spain, France, England and the Dutch.
Sweden defeated England 2-1 Saturday in the third-place match.
