A performance about the historic Mendez v. Westminster legal battle will be near the top of the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting of the Westminster City Council.

Jasmine Chhabria will make the presentation, subtitled “Conflict and Compromise in Segregated Education.” It refers to the 1947 lawsuit against several Orange County school districts that sent Mexican students to segregated campuses.

It was a precursor to Brown v. Board of Education, which outlawed segregation by race in public schools nationwide.

Also on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting will be:

  • awarding of a contract to operate the Rose Center Theater;
  • choosing the 2020 Tet parade organizer;
  • an update on the Mendez Freedom Trail and Mendez Tribute Memorial park and bike trail.

The council will meet in its chambers at 8200 Westminster Blvd. at 7 p.m.
