UPDATE: The victim of Monday’s fatal shooting has been identified by police. It is Shon Xavier Hall. “Detectives determined this was an isolated incident and the victim was specifically targeted for robbery,” according to the GGPD.
He was a star athlete at Garden Grove High School, and was named all-league as a defensive back in 2010, the year the Argonauts won the school’s first-ever CIF-SS football championship.

A 25-year-old Garden Grove man was fatally shot early Monday morning in what police are calling a home invasion robbery.
According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, the incident took place in the 9100 block of La Grand Avenue around 4 a.m. That’s in an area south of Katella Avenue and east of Magnolia Street.
Arriving officers found the victim dead in the driveway of the home.
Further investigation told the story of the man and his girlfriend asleep in their room when three armed masked men – identified only as African-American – awakened them and demanded cash and drugs.
During the robbery, the 25-year-old man was shot by one of the suspects. He ran from the home and collapsed in the driveway where he died.
The three suspects fled the home and left in a dark-colored vehicle.
