The expansion of a medical building and a church campus were both approved at last Thursday’s meeting of the Garden Grove Planning Commission.

On a 5-1 vote with Andrew Kanzler absent, the planners approved a third floor to a two-story medical building at 9191 Westminster Ave. (at Atlantis Way). The request will add 7,140 square feet to the structure’s current 29,736 square feet. Daisy Perez cast the dissenting vote.

Also on a 5-1 vote with Kanzler absent, the commission voted 5-1 to give approval to St. Columban Catholic Church of a site plan to convert two existing single family homes – located on a 21,760 square foot lot across Nelson Street – into 3,007 square feet of additional office and meeting space. Dale Soeffner cast the dissenting vote.
