Bring Tet festival and parade to GG?

Should a Tet festival and parade come to Garden Grove?

Garden Grove city councilman Phat Bui thinks perhaps they should.

On the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove City Council, a proposal from Bui will be discussed.

A Tet – the Vietnamese lunar new year – parade has long been held along Bolsa Avenue in Westminster’s Little Saigon area. A large Tet festival was held until recently in Garden Grove Park, but has since moved to other locations.

The request from Bui comes after the permit to organize the parade in Westminster was granted to a group rivaled by an organization led by Bui.

That action is widely considered to be related to infighting between two factions on the Westminster City Council, all members of which are under threat of recall, as is Bui.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers inside the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.
