UPDATE: The number of people injured in the fire and explosion Saturday night at an Oktoberfest celebration has been changed to five. According to reports, the owner of the Old World Village’s German Restaurant in Huntington Beach, identified as Bernie Bischof, suffered second and third degree burns and was in critical condition on Sunday.

Four persons were injured when several explosions took place at the Old World German Restaurant in Huntington Beach Saturday night. The injuries were considered minor and the explosions related to an electrical mishap in an underground vault.
The first of three explosions in the transformer was reported at 8:10 p.m., at 7561 Center Ave, immediately north of the Costco big box store in the Bella Terra shopping center.
Two firefighters and two others were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The incident place as a crowd was gathering as part of an Oktoberfest celebration. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
