A FREEWAY CHASE early Wednesday morning led to a crash and arrests (Shutterstock).

A routine traffic stop on the Garden Grove Freeway turned into a chase and then a crash early Wednesday morning.

According to Sgt. Brian Dalton of the GGPD, the incident took place around 12:28 a.m. on the freeway near Beach Boulevard. Officers sought to pull over a black Cadillac for a traffic violation. As the vehicle began to pull over, it suddenly accelerated and the chase ensued.

As the suspect vehicle took the Beach Boulevard exit, it went out of control and “a traffic collision occurred,” according to Sgt. Dalton. The occupants of the vehicle were detained and taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Criminal charges are pending.
