Hot in November? It’s not for long

The temps start toasty this week, but cool off into rain. But things to do around here remain hot.

WEATHER: Is this really November? Temperatures in West Orange County hit 92 and higher on Sunday, and are forecast to reach the high 80s today (Monday). Ah, but there is relief on the way.  The highs will plunge to the mid-70s by Tuesday, then into the low-60s with rain on Wednesday and Thursday. The weekend weather will bounce back to sunny with highs in the low 70s.

MEETINGS:  The Huntington Beach City Council will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. with the key item being the issuance of pension obligation bonds to seek to decrease the city’s unfunded pension liability obligations.

On Wednesday the Westminster City Council will hold a public hearing on proposed maps for the creation of districts for the election of councilmembers for the 2020 election. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

ENTERTAINMENT: Opening this week in local cinemas are:

  • “21 Bridges” stars Chadwick Boseman as a NYPD detective searching for two cop killers as authorities close all of Manhattan’s 21 bridges. Rated R.
  • “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is a biopic about TV personality Fred Rogers. It stars Tom Hanks and is rated PG.
  • “Frozen II” is a sequel to the Disney hit animated musical. Rated PG.

On stage in the area is:

  • “A Nice Family Gathering” opens this weekend at the Westminster Community Playhouse.

SPORTS:  The Anaheim Ducks are on the road all week, and don’t return to Orange County until Monday, Nov. 25 hosting the New York Islanders.

Three of our local high school football teams are in the semifinal round of the CIF-SS playoffs on Friday. Orange will visit Simi Valley in Division 10, Marina will visit Hemet in Division 11 and Loara will host South Torrance in Division 14.
