WEATHER: If you’ve had enough rain and even snow, you can look forward happily to a mild week that starts with highs in the 70s before dropping to the mid-60s later in the week. No rain is likely; the weatherperson gives us a 10 percent chance of precipitation on Saturday and Sunday.

MEETINGS: The Westminster City Council will meet on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to fix the date for the recall election for Mayor Tri Ta and council members Kimberly Ho and Chi Charlie Nguyen.

EVENTS: Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do will be the guest for the “Meet on Main” event sponsored by the Garden Grove Neighborhood Association on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wesley Village, 10861 Acacia Village, Garden Grove.

  • “1917”: Award-winning film about combat and companionship in World War I. Now in general release. Rated R.
  • “Like A Boss:” Comedy about a two-woman business startup rescued and threatened by a sharky investor. Starring Salma Hayek, Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne. Rated R.
  • “Underwater:” Afraid of water? This PG-13-rated thriller is the story of researchers at the bottom of the ocean attacked by mysterious creatures. Starring Kristen Stewart.

SPORTS: This is the week when most local high school basketball teams begin league play. We’ll have more on that in our Prep Sport Spotlight posted on Tuesday.

This coming weekend will also bring us the NFL’s Divisional Playoff Round on Saturday and Sunday, as close as your TV, smartphone or iPad.
