Here’s The Tribune’s look at the week ahead for the cities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.
WEATHER: Ready for relatively warm temperatures this mid-winter week? Here they come. According to the National Weather Service, clouds are clearing to sunny temperatures with highs in the high 70s and low 80s. No rain on the horizon.
MEETINGS: Local governing bodies are back on their usual schedules this week, with Garden Grove and Stanton city councils meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Westminster’s council on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
ENTERTAINMENT: Our live stages are dark this week, but here’s what’s opening this coming weekend in local movie houses.
- “Gretel & Hansel” is a somewhat more scary and adult version of the classic fairy tale. Rated R.
- “Th Rhythm Section” tells the story of a woman who seeks out to get revenge on the people who killed her family. Rated R.
EVENTS: The annual State of the City luncheon for Garden Grove will take place on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Orange County (Chapman Avenue and Harbor Boulevard). It’s co-sponsored by the city and the chamber of commerce.
Also, on Sunday, the annual Surf City Marathon and Half-Marathon will take place in Huntington Beach in the downtown and beach areas of the city. For more information, go to www.runsurfcity.com.
SPORTS: After the All-Star break, the Anaheim Ducks will start the second half of the 2019-2020 NHL season on the road today (Monday) in San Jose, then come home to Honda Center with games Wednesday and Friday hosting the Arizona Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning.
