Everybody loves a parade, especially one featuring neighborhood kids and parents celebrating the onset of the national pastime.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., various streets in West Garden Grove will be closed for the West Garden Grove Youth Baseball Opening Day Parade.
The following streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.:
Cerulean Avenue, Topaz Street, Trinette Street, Amethyst Street, Picket Avenue, Taylor Circle, and Poplar Street. Picket Avenue will be inaccessible in or out during the parade. Major streets also impacted by the closure are Lampson Avenue, from Valley View to Lamplighter Streets, and Springdale Street, from Stanford to Belgrave avenues. Residents and businesses have been notified in advance.
The annual West Garden Grove Youth Baseball Opening Day Parade begins at 8 a.m., in front of Edgar Park, at 12781 Topaz St. The parade will travel eastbound on Cerulean Avenue to Topaz Street, then head eastbound on Lampson Avenue before ending at Bell Intermediate School, at 12345 Springdale St.
According to the National Weather Service, it – probably – won’t rain on the parade, with mostly sunny conditions.
The Garden Grove Police Department’s Traffic Unit will be on site during the closure times to direct traffic and suggest alternate routes. For more information on street closures, contact the Garden Grove Police Department at (714) 741-5823.
