Planners OK site plan for hotels

“SITE C” on Harbor Boulevard in Garden Grove would feature two upscale hotels (City of Garden Grove).

Yet another step was taken toward getting “some sticks in the ground” for a major hotel project – known as “Site C” – was taken last week by the Garden Grove Planning Commission.

The panel voted 7-0 to approve an amended site plan for this planned upscale hotel, restaurant and retail development on the east side of Harbor Boulevard and north of Twintree Lane, south of the Target department store at Chapman Avenue and Harbor.

Planned are two luxury hotels with a total of 759 rooms, along with some eateries and shops. One is The Klimpton, a 200-plus room “boutique” four star operation and the other is Le Meridien, a 400-plus room tower.

Also last Thursday, the planners approved a new massage business at Gilbert Street and Garden Grove Boulevard on a 5-1-1 vote with one dissent and one abstention.
