Marina girls’ polo team advances

MARINA HIGH SCHOOL’S girls’ water polo team won Friday and advanced to the CIF SoCal semifinals (Shutterstock).

Marina High’s girls’ water polo team – already a CIF-SS champion – advanced to the semifinals of the CIF SoCal Division III championships with an 11-5 victory over Eagle Rock on Friday.

The Vikings (22-11) won the CIF-SS Division 6 title last week. They will face Cleveland High of Reseda on Saturday at Segerstrom High. The Cavaliers were a semifinalist in the Los Angeles City Girls’ Water Polo Championships. If the Vikings win, they will play in the championship final later that day against the winner of the Palisades-Birmingham contest.
