A special meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council will be held on Tuesday to take up four matters related to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

  • An update of the city’s COVID-19 response plan and actions for review and discussion will be made by City Manager Oliver Chi;
  • a resolution approving the suspension of water shutoffs to residential and business customers;
  • the abatement of rent payments from some tenants at city-owned facilities including some residences, some beach and park concessions and city hall and library operations such as the city employees’ credit union and eateries;
  • an emergency ordinance establishing a temporary ban on residential and commercial property evictions for non-payment, provided that the non-payment resulted from a “substantial decrease” in income tied to the coronavirus outbreak.

The council will meet in its chambers in the Civic Center, 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue) at 4 p.m.
