A special meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council will be held on Tuesday to take up four matters related to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
An update of the city’s COVID-19 response plan and actions for review and discussion will be made by City Manager Oliver Chi;
- a resolution approving the suspension of water shutoffs to residential and business customers;
- the abatement of rent payments from some tenants at city-owned facilities including some residences, some beach and park concessions and city hall and library operations such as the city employees’ credit union and eateries;
- an emergency ordinance establishing a temporary ban on residential and commercial property evictions for non-payment, provided that the non-payment resulted from a “substantial decrease” in income tied to the coronavirus outbreak.
The council will meet in its chambers in the Civic Center, 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue) at 4 p.m.
