COVID-19 cases in OC increase

CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County showed a sharp increase in Tuesday’s count (Shutterstock).

Hope that the coronavirus threat is deflating was itself punctured a bit on Tuesday by a steep increase in the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Orange County.

According to the latest count by the Orange County Health Care Agency, 87 new cases are on the latest tabulation, bringing the to-date cumulative cases to 1,376 for the OC.

Monday’s count showed 23 and Sunday’s was 25.

Additionally, three new deaths were reported, bringing the total for Orange County to 22. One hundred and four cases were hospitalized and 45 were in intensive care units.

Anaheim remained the city with the most cases with 156, followed by Santa Ana with 134, Irvine with 105, Huntington Beach with 92 and  Newport Beach with 90.

In The Tribune’s coverage area, in addition to Huntington Beach, there’s Garden Grove with 43, Westminster with 24 and Stanton with six.
