The submission deadline to participate in the Urban Forest Management Plan Tree Art Contest has been extended to Thursday, June 4, 2020.
Local youth, kindergarten through 12th grade, are invited to draw, paint, or photograph current or future trees in Garden Grove, and submit their original artwork online, at https://ggcity.org/urban-forest. In addition, the deadline to submit feedback on Garden Grove’s urban forestry has been extended to Thursday, July 9, 2020. The community is encouraged to fill out the online survey at http://bit.ly/gg-urban-forest-plan.
Submitted artwork will be displayed on the city’s Facebook page, @gardengrovecityhall, from Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 26, 2020. The community will be invited to judge the Tree Art Contest by “liking” their favorite tree art in each age category: K-3rd; 4th-6th; 7th-9th; and 10th-12th.
The post with the most “likes” in each age category will be determined the winner. Each winner will receive a cash prize of $100.
Winning artwork will be posted on the city’s website and social pages on Monday, June 29, 2020.
The art contest and online survey are part of the city’s upcoming 40-year plan to maintain, enhance, and grow an urban forest in Garden Grove.
