Declines in virus cases, deaths

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County were reported Thursday at 873. (Flickr).

The number of daily COVID-19 positive cases reported to the Orange County Health Care Agency on Thursday is 873. That’s a slight decline from Wednesday’s total of 911.

Eleven deaths were reported, a slight decline from Wednesday’s sum of 12.

The total number of cases so far in Orange County is now at 27,904, of which 12,264 cases are considered to be recovered. The total number of deaths from coronavirus is now at 466.

Cases hospitalized are at 711, with 245 cases now in intensive care units.

The test positivity rate – which indicates how many of those tested would likely have the infection ­– is at 14 percent, down from 14.1 percent the day before.

The city count for the top five cities with cases follows. Deaths are in parentheses.

  • Santa Ana: 5,225 (122 deaths).
  • Anaheim: 4,792 (112).
  • Garden Grove: 1,437 (15).
  • Huntington Beach: 1,357 (43).
  • Orange: 1,284 (16).

Also, Westminster has 518 cases and 12 deaths: Stanton has 318 and four deaths.
