A FIREFIGHTER from the Orange County Fire Authority battles a blaze Monday morning at a mobile home in Westminster. The body of an elderly woman was found (OCTA image).

The body of a woman was found inside a mobile home Monday that was ravaged by fire in Westminster.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the fire was reported at 4:24 a.m. in the mobile home park in the 5700 block of Garden Grove Boulevard near the city limit and the Garden Grove Freeway.

The woman was identified by the Orange County Coroner’s office as Mary Penn, 82, of Westminster. The time of death was given at 4:47 a.m.

In addition to the deceased woman, another resident was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation.  Firefighters were hampered in battling the blaze because “structural compromise” limited access to parts of the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to firefighters and the Westminster Police Department and the Southern California Red Cross were on the scene to provide assistance.
