Killing may be “gang-related”

A FATAL shooting in Santa Ana may be gang-related, police say (Shutterstock).

The second homicide in less than a week was reported in Santa Ana early Thursday morning.

According to the SAPD, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the east alley of 1600 South Cedar Street at around 12:16 a.m. Arriving officers found a male adult down in the alley suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics declared the man deceased at 12:25 a.m.

SAPD homicide detectives investigating the case believe gang rivalry motivated the shooting.

Another shooting took place Monday night, with the victim dying early Tuesday morning.

The name of the decedent is being withheld pending identification by the Orange County Coroner and notification of next of kin.
