Sunday’s report on the coronavirus by the Orange County Health Care Agency showed declines both in new cases and deaths.

New cases in Sunday’s stats are at 247, a drop from 316 on Saturday. Deaths also fell, from four to three. Hospitalizations from the virus are at 150 (compared to 159 on Saturday) with 55 persons in intensive care units, the same as the day before.

Public health officials caution against reading too much into daily tallies. The key metrics that classify counties into tiers is based on the twin metrics of test positivity percent and number of positive cases per 100,000. Each of those is computed using a seven-day average with a seven-day lag, and they are updated each Tuesday.

So far, the number of COVID-19 cases in Orange County are at 58,573, with 1,447 deaths.

Here is a list of the Orange County cities with the most cases. Deaths are in parentheses.
