As an educator, I work hard to provide the best experience I can for my students. I have spent over a decade focused on empowering communities through my work at colleges, universities, and nonprofit organizations.

We’ve heard it over the past couple of months – we live in unprecedented times.

We need new voices willing to actively listen, engage with stakeholders, and collaborate. As a parent and educator, I ran to ensure that the district could navigate this new era in education.

As a college administrator, I am familiar with the challenges that online learning and re-opening plans present. Public health guidelines are best implemented with clear communication. Now is the time to bring others to the table, including asking for more student, parent, teacher, staff, and community feedback.

We can build a stronger future for our students. We can prioritize health and safety. We can create more equitable opportunities across the district. We can prepare our students for 21st century careers and for post-high school education that looks vastly different than it did even 10 years ago.

With a fresh perspective and open mind, I am ready to serve the community as a member of the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees.
