Another special meeting of the Westminster City Council has been called for Monday, Jan. 18 at 8:30 a.m. to further consider the selection of a new city manager. The conducting of interviews will be held.

Today’s meeting – held almost entirely in closed session – lasted about an hour.

The city has been without a permanent city manager since March. Sherry Johnson, formerly the city finance director, has been serving as interim city manager.

In December, the council outlined the process for making the selection. There have been 48 applications submitted and council member were to review them and identify five candidates they wished to be interviewed. Those nominated will be subjected to a preliminary background investigation. An interview will be set, based on how many people will be interviewed.

From there, if the council selects a final candidate or candidates, a comprehensive background check would follow before a contract is offered.
