A Santa Ana man was fatally shot early Sunday morning at the Hyatt Regency Orange County hotel in Garden Grove.

According to Sgt. Charles Loffler, officers were sent to the hotel located at 11999 Harbor Blvd. (at Chapman Avenue) at 3:47 a.m. regarding a gunshot victim. Arriving officers found the body of man, identified only as a male Hispanic from Santa Ana, approximately 28 years old. He had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

The suspect – described as male Hispanic, to 20 to 25 years old, wearing dark clothing – fled on foot into the parking lot. The incident took place in a lobby hallway on the west side of the hotel. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
