Deaths rise, other signs drop

CORONAVIRUS deaths in Orange County rose on Sunday, but three other metrics showed declines (Shutterstock).

New cases of coronavirus in Orange County dropped sharply in Sunday’s report, and there were small declines in two other categories.

According to the county health care agency, the count of new COIVID-19 infections declined from 3,454 on Saturday to 1,448 on Sunday. Hospitalizations fell from 2,065 on Saturday to 2,026 on Sunday.

Coronavirus patients in intensive care units went from 542 to 538.

However, deaths rose from 43 to 47.

Cumulative cases of the virus in Orange County are now at 210, 813. Deaths total 2,361.

  • Santa Ana: 38,540 (444)
  • Anaheim: 35,512 (473)
  • Garden Grove: 13,512 (166)
  • Orange: 9,942 (119)
  • Fullerton: 9,405 (157)
  • Huntington Beach: 8,530 (120)

Westminster has had 5,777 cases and 76 deaths. Stanton has had 2,655 cases and 29 deaths.

There will be no report from OCHCA on Monday, as it is a national holiday.
