Most key measurements of the status of the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County on Thursday from the county health care agency are showing what could be an encouraging trend.
For the second consecutive day, the tally of new COVID-19 infections fell, as did hospitalizations from coronavirus. Intensive care unit use for coronavirus declined from Wednesday’s figure and deaths showed an increase.
New cases fell to 1,340 from 1,701 on Wednesday. Hospitalizations declined from 1,975 to 1,935. Deaths rose to 38 from 31. ICU use fell from 527 to 517.However, those changes aren’t enough to move the county out of the purple (widespread), which is needed to lift some restrictions on schools and businesses.
Cumulative cases of coronavirus cases in Orange County are at 217,879, of which 149,396 are considered recovered.
Total deaths are at 2,546.

Westminster has 5,989 cases and 93 deaths. Stanton has 2,749 cases and 32 deaths.
