New COVID-19 cases plunging

NEW CASES of coronavirus in Orange County in Wednesday’s report are down again (Shutterstock).

The number of new coronavirus cases, deaths, hospitalizations and ICU patients in Orange County continues to drop, according to Wednesday’s report from the county health care agency.

New cases of COVID-19 infections plunged to 546, compared to 768 on Tuesday and 1,003 on Monday. Deaths fell from 53 to 37 on Tuesday, while hospitalizations for coronavirus declined to 1,298 from 1,300 the day before. ICU patients dropped to 363 from 370 on Tuesday.

To date, Orange County has had 234,708 cases, of which 188,422 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 3,199. The test positivity rate over a 14-day average is at 12 percent.

  • Santa Ana: 42,384 (563)
  • Anaheim: 39,163 (591)
  • Garden Grove: 15,247 (244)
  • Orange: 11,051 (158)
  • Fullerton: 10,460 (212)
  • Huntington Beach: 9,583 (153)

Westminster has had 6,503 cases and 125 deaths. Stanton has 2,933 cases and 40 deaths.
