COVID-19 cases still declining

THE BATTLE against the coronavirus isn’t won yet. To safeguard against infection – and to speed up the re-opening of schools and business – keep wearing those masks, washing hands and – as appopriate – practice social distancing (Shutterstock).

New confirmed cases of coronavirus continued their descent in Monday’s count by the Orange County Health Care Agency.

According to the OCHCA, new cases dropped from 191 on Sunday to 179 on Monday. Saturday’s total was 281.

Deaths declined to four from 13, but statistics in this category are still problematic because of problems with the state’s reporting system.

Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 infections in Orange County declined to 419 from 421 on Sunday. The use of intensive care units for coronavirus patients went to 119 on Monday, compared to 132 on Sunday.
