West Grove Center plan OK’d

THE WEST GROVE Center will expand as plans for new construction were approved by the Garden Grove Planning Commission Thursday night (Orange County Tribune photo).

The way was cleared Thursday night for further expansion of a West Garden Grove commercial center by the city planning commission.

Planners unanimously approved a proposal by Cinema Management, Inc. to turn a vacant former bowling alley in the West Grove Center, 12141 Valley View St., into a smaller building and leave room for more development.

The structure would be reduced in size from 33,375 square feet to 19,296-square feet to accommodate a 12,082-square foot anchor tenant and three new restaurants with a square footage of 7,214 square feet.

Also proposed and approved is a request to construct a new drive-through coffee store on the site. The artist’s rendering shows a Starbucks at that location.

Earlier improvements in the center included a car wash, a Jack-in-the-Box drive through restaurant and the renovation of an existing movie theater complex.

  1. Wow you mean people in the planning department actually work in Garden Grove?? I’ve been trying to get plans approved on a home addition for 7.5 months…worst department ever! Guess they only approve/review what they want.
