MORE STUDENTS will be returning to school campuses this week across West Orange County. But don’t forget the masks (Shutterstock).

Back to school is usually an event reserved for the fall, but now – in the era of the coronavirus – it’s spread all over the calendar.

With Orange County entering the “red” tier, the Garden Grove Unified School District has announced that the intermediate schools not previously opened will reopen on Wednesday, March 17, as well as Pacifica High School.

The other seven high schools will resume in-person instruction on Monday, March 22. Parents and students are reminded that pupils will be required to wear masks at all times, and that other face coverings such as bandannas, gaiters and masks with exhalation valves are not permitted.

In the Westminster School District, the three middle schools there are slated to reopen on March 17.

The Ocean View School District is working toward resuming five-day-a-week in-person instruction as early as April.
