Rancho beats Saxons, lead GGL

Rancho Alamitos moved into the driver’s seat in the Garden Grove League football race Thursday night with a 21-13 win over Loara at Glover Stadium in Anaheim’s La Palma Park.

The Vaqueros are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in GGL play with the win. The Saxons fell to 1-1 overall and in league. Loara was a tri-champion of the GGL last season with Santiago and Rancho Alamitos.

Rancho will next be in action on Thursday, April 1 against Santiago. Loara’s opponent will be Bolsa Grande.

Also Thursday night, Marina (now 2-1) defeated Laguna Beach (1-1) 59-40 in a non-league contest at Bill Boswell Stadium at Westminster High School. The Vikings, defending champions of the Big 4 League and CIF-SS Division 11, open league play next Friday at home against Garden Grove High.
