A WOMAN walking in a street in Stanton was fatally injured when struck by a car (Shutterstock).

A woman walking in a street in Stanton was fatally struck by a car Tuesday night.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department – which provides police services for Stanton – the incident took place around 9 p.m. in the 7600 block of Katella Avenue near Dale Street.

Arriving deputies found a woman lying in the street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s possible she was outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident, according to the OCSD. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital to be tested for possible driving under the influence.

The name of the victim was not revealed by authorities.
