GGUSD high schools honored

LA QUINTA HIGH SCHOOL ranked 52nd in the state according to U.S. News and World Report. All seven GGUSD high schools were honored in a new list of the nation’s best high schools (File photo).

For the fourth year in a row, all seven of Garden Grove Unified School District’s comprehensive high schools earned a spot on the U.S. News and World Report’s rankings of America’s Best High Schools.

On the 2021 list of America’s Best High Schools, GGUSD’s high schools ranked in the top 662 in California, top 266 in the Los Angeles metro area, and top 4,500 nationally from nearly 18,000 ranked schools.

Four GGUSD schools ranked in the top 200 in California, including:

  • La Quinta High School at #52 in California, #20 in LA Metro, and #391 nationally
  • Garden Grove High School at #177 in California, #81 in LA Metro, and #1,190 nationally
  • Bolsa Grande High School at #179 in California, #82 in LA Metro, and 1,204 nationally, and
  • Pacifica High School at #185 in California, #85 in LA Metro, and #1,247 nationally.

“We are proud of our GGUSD scholars who continue to earn a reputation for academic excellence,” said Board of Education President Lan Nguyen. “This award highlights the combined hard work of GGUSD teachers and staff who are all exceptionally gifted at ensuring our high school students are college and career ready and prepared to achieve greatness beyond high school.”

U.S. News and World Report analyzes the data of more than 24,000 public high schools across the country and awards a national rank to nearly than 18,000 public high schools. The ranking reflects measurements on state math and reading exams, college readiness including Advanced Placement success, college curriculum breadth, underserved student performance, and graduation rates.
