CIF-SS soccer playoffs to start

CIF-SS soccer playoffs will start this coming week, with nine local teams involved.

The CIF-SS soccer playoffs will start next week. Girls’ action will commence on Wednesday with boys’ play on Thursday.

Four local teams are ranked in the final poll in the various divisions. Santiago, the Garden Grove League boys champ is third in Division 2 and draws a first round bye. Huntington Beach, second in the Wave League, is sixth in D-2.

On the girls’ side, Pacifica (Empire League champs) is eighth in Division 1 and Bolsa Grande (Garden Grove League #1) is ninth in D-6.

All games are scheduled for 3 p.m.

Here are the first round pairings, as announced Saturday by the CIF-SS.

BOYS (May 13)

  • Division 1: Mater Dei at Edison
  • Division 2: Santiago has a bye; Estancia at Huntington Beach
  • Division 3: Oaks Christian at Los Amigos

GIRLS (May 12)

  • Division 1: Vista/Murrieta at Pacifica; Huntington Beach at Long Beach Poly
  • Division 4: Rowland at Ocean View
  • Division 5: Barstow at Santiago
  • Division 6: Bolsa Grande will host the winner of the wild card game between Artesia and Inglewood to be played Tuesday.
