THREE LOCAL high school soccer teams advanced to the second round of the CIF-SS playoffs

Three local high school girls’ soccer teams triumphed in their CIF-SS first round playoff games on Wednesday and advanced to second round play on Friday.

In Division 1, Pacifica and Vista Murrieta deadlocked 1-1, but the Mariners advance based on penalty kicks. The M’s (12-2-1) will take on Newport Harbor (10-2-4) on May 14.

In Division 5, Santiago (10-1-1) defeated Barstow 2-1 and will play Western Christian (8-6-2) In Division 6, Bolsa Grande (12-1-0) bested Artesia 3-0 and takes on Cate  (4-1-2) on Friday.
