The Huntington Beach Oilers are the sole local boys’ soccer team to survive into the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS playoffs.
In a Division 2 contest, HBHS (14-2-2) defeated Tustin 1-0 in overtime on Saturday to advance to the next round on Wednesday against Hart High of Newhall. The Indians (11-2-1), who will be the home team, defeated Santiago 3-0 on Saturday.
The Cavaliers, undefeated as Garden Grove League champs, finish the season with a 10-1-2 mark.
In Division 1, Edison lost 3-0 to Capistrano Valley. The Chargers conclude the year with a 12-5-1 mark.
In Division 3, Westminster lost 4-1 to Norte Vista. The Lions concluded with an 11-6-2 record.
