Cases slip, but deaths double

NEW ORANGE COUNTY coronavirus cases declined\ in Sunday’s count but the number of deaths doubled (Shutterstock).

Confirmed new coronavirus cases declined slightly on Sunday, according to the Orange County Health Agency, but deaths more than doubled.

Sunday’s tally showed cases down from 42 on Saturday to 41 on Sunday. Deaths increased from five to 10. Hospitalizations stayed even at 61 and the number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units slipped from 13 to 10.

To date, the number of cases in the OC have totaled 255,454, of which 249,303 are judged recovered. 

Nationally, The New York Times is estimated that – over a 14-day period – new cases are down 45 percent and deaths by 28 percent. In California, the Los Angeles Times reports that cases are down 23 percent and deaths 12 percent, over the same period.
