New confirmed coronavirus cases reported on Monday were less than half of the totals from weekend days, according to the Orange County Health Care Authority.
Monday’s new case total was 19, down from 42 on Saturday and 41 on Sunday. Deaths dropped from 10 on Sunday to zero today.
Hospitalizations from the virus rose from 61 to 64 and the number of patients being treated in intensive care units for COVID-19 decreased from 13 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday to eight on Monday.
Cases to date in the OC are now at 255,473, of which 249,356 are considered recovered. Deaths are at 5,083.
At the national level, new cases are down 45 percent over a 15-day period, according to The New York Times, and deaths down 22 percent. In California, the Los Angeles Times is reporting a 22 percent drop in cases and a 6 percent drop in deaths, over a similar period.
