There’s a vacancy on the city council in Surf City and the process for applying to fill that position was outlined Thursday by the council at a special meeting.
The council voted 6-0 to schedule applications to be submitted starting today (Friday, June 11) through next Friday, June 18 at 5 p.m. Applications will be available online or in the city clerk’s office.
Interviews will be held June 25-27 – if no more than 12 applications are received – or July 9-11.
The council vacancy was created when Tito Ortiz, elected in 2020, quit his post, citing concerns about his family’s safety.
