Confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County declined in Friday’s report, but numbers are up in two other categories.
According to the county health care agency, cases went from 33 on Wednesday to 43 on Thursday to 39 on Friday. Deaths fell from two to one.
However, hospitalizations increased from 50 to 54. The number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units rose from eight to 17. That’s still low by historic standards.
To date, the number of confirmed cases in the OC are at 255,810, of which 249,774 are considered to be recovered. Deaths are at 5,103.
Nationally, cases are down 18 percent over the past 14 days, and deaths by 30 percent, according to The New York Times. In California, the Los Angeles Times reports that cases are down 3 percent and deaths by 29 percent.
