FIREWORKS like this – shot into the air – are illegal in Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.
Should “safe and sane” fireworks continue to be legal in Stanton?
On Tuesday the city council will consider a topic brought up by Councilmember Gary Taylor regarding the sale and use of such pyrotechnics within city limits and the possibility of placing the issue on the November 2022 ballot.
Stanton is one of 11 cities in Orange County where fireworks are legal. The others are Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Stanton, Villa Park and Westminster.
Also on the agenda for Tuesday night are:
- adoption of the 2021-2022 municipal budget and
- a joint meeting with the city planning commission to receive an overview of the specific plan area for a proposed Town Center district, as well as information on design and public improvements to Beach Boulevard.
The council will meet in closed session at 4 p.m., with the joint session with the planning commission at 5 p.m. The regular council meeting convenes at 6 p.m.
