Suspect held in February shooting

A BELLFLOWER man was arrested Wednesday for a shooting in Garden Grove in February (Shutterstock).

A shooting in Garden Grove in February led to the apprehension of a suspect in Anaheim on Wednesday

According to Sgt. Charles Loffler of the GGPD, Selaupasene Launiuvao, 25, of Bellflower was arrested for felony assault with a firearm. Police say he was found in possession of a loaded firearm, and they found evidence related to the February incident in his vehicle and his residence.

According to Sgt. Loffler, the suspect admitted to the shooting in Garden Grove.

Launiuvao, his child and the child’s mother were walking in a parking lot of a restaurant in the 12000 block of Brookhurst Street on the evening of Feb.13. The victim was driving through the lot, passing near where Launiuvao was walking with his family.

After the car was parked, Launiuvao allegedly ran there and fired several shots into the vehicle and fled the scene.

GGPD detectives were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and his home in Bellflower.

From there, they were able to find him in Anaheim.
