A Huntington Beach resident was arrested Thursday by FBI agents for allegedly taking part in the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol.
According to the Department of Justice, Glenn Allen Brooks is charged with two counts:
- entering and remaining and disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and
- disorderly conduct and parading, demonstrating of picketing in a Capitol building.
In the complaint, there’s a still image of Brooks in the Capitol in the midst of rioters. He’s smiling at the camera and wearing a “Trump for President” cap in an image the FBI states he sent to friends.
That image was shared with federal investigators by an associate of Brooks. The complaint includes other stills – taken from digital video – showing him entering and remaining in the building.
To date, nearly 600 people have been identified and arrested or cited in connection with the incident, in which right-wing extremists stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to prevent Congress from certifying the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the offices of president and vice president of the United States.
He’s not the only area resident arrested in connection with the incident. Another Huntington Beach resident, along with a man from Westminster, also face federal charges.
