Lions roar to fifth victory

WESTMINSTER HIGH’S football team remained unbeaten with a 14-0 win over Magnolia (Shutterstock).

Westminster continued its unbeaten string, improving its record to 5-0 with a 14-0 win over Magnolia Thursday night at Handel Field on the Western High campus.

The Lions are bouncing back from a 1-4 record in the spring season. Roman Harris passed for 89 yards and a touchdown and rushed for another 16 yards.

With the loss, the Sentinels are 2-3. WHS will be in action next week against Katella in another non-league contest.  Magnolia will start Orange League play next week against Anaheim.

Orange (2-3) lost 21-7 to the unbeaten Foothill Knights (5-0) at Fred Kelly Stadium. The Panthers will start Orange Coast League play next week against Costa Mesa.

Playing at home, the Bolsa Grande Matadors (3-2) defeated Godinez 13-7. The three wins are already as many as the program had since 2013. Bolsa will begin Garden Grove League play next Thursday against Rancho Alamitos.
