Monday numbers show decline

NEW CONFIRMED cases, deaths and ICU use all declined in Orange County in Monday’s report (Shutterstock).

According to the county health care agency, the total (including Saturday and Sunday as well) was 670.

The death figure for Monday was eight. Hospitalizations declined from 279 to 242. Patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units fell from 85 to 62.

To date, Orange County has had 298,575 cases of which 285,056 are judged to have recovered. The death total is at 5,444.

Nationally, The New York Times is reporting a 28 percent decline – over a 13-day period – in cases and deaths by 7 percent. In California, cases are down by 32 percent and deaths by 24 percent over a similar period, according to Los Angeles Times.
