Three of four major metrics charting the status of the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County showed modest increases in Monday’s numbers.
According to the county health care agency, the three-day total of confirmed new cases (Saturday through Monday) was 906, which is an average of 302 cases. That compares to Friday’s total of 325.
Deaths (also a three-day total) are at five, compared to three on Friday. Hospitalizations rose from 193 to 199 and the use of intensive care units for treating COVID-19 patients increased from 49 to 53.
To date, Orange County has had 303,599 cases, of which 293,854 are considered recovered. The total count of deaths is 5,600.
Nationally, The New York Times reports cases are down 13 percent and deaths by 12 percent over a 14-day period. In California, cases are up 10 percent and deaths down 1 percent.
