According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the blaze was reported about 8 p.m. at a two-story house in the 13000 block of Jefferson Street. That’s near Garden Grove Boulevard and east of Beach Boulevard.

Arriving firefighters, told that three people were trapped upstairs, went quickly into action. They pulled out one adult victim – as yet unidentified – who was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighter paramedics. The fire was confined to one bedroom.

A second person suffered minor injuries upon fleeing the house and was taken to a hospital after being assessed by paramedics. A dozen people were displaced and were assisted in finding housing by the Southern California Red Cross.
