Three suspects – all of them white – have been found guilty of the murder of a Black man – in a nationally watched trial.

According to The New York Times, the three defendants – Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael (son and father) and neighbor William Bryan all gave possible life sentences in the February 2020 fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, 25, in Brunswick, Georgia.

There are also federal charges of hate crimes and attempted kidnapping pending with a trial expected to start in February.

Arbery was jogging when the three defendants pursued him in pickup trucks, believing he had committed a burglary in their neighborhood. In the confrontation that followed, Arbery – who was unarmed – was fatally shot by Travis McMichael, who claimed he feared that Arbery might take his shotgun away from him and shoot him.

Sports: A feast of football on Thursday

Almost as big a tradition on Thanksgiving Day as turkey is NFL football, which is serving up three televised contests this year. They are…

All times are Pacific.

Weather: Windy and warm

Thanksgiving Day in the West Orange County area is forecast to see higher daytime temperatures and brisk winds. The high is expected to hit 81 (48 overnight) under sunny skies, but with winds up to 18 miles an hour. The winds should abate somewhat on Friday to 9 miles an hour, but the daytime high will linger at 81. Conditions in the coastal areas of Huntington Beach are expected to be similar.
