The City of Huntington Beach is opening a new ice rink in the Pier Plaza, opening Friday (today) at Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway.

This new offering is part of the city’s Surf City Winter Wonderland event taking place through Jan. 2, 2022. Surf City Winter Wonderland is intended to transform downtown Huntington Beach into a holiday destination by providing various winter activities, such as ice-skating, live entertainment, festive programming and more.

“Surf City Winter Wonderland is a great way to reimagine the holidays in Surf City and make new memories with your family,” said Mayor Kim Carr. “In Huntington Beach, we are always looking for new ways to activate our downtown and provide family-friendly programming for our residents and visitors. Thanks to our partnership with Ice-America, we have an opportunity to bring this fun and merry event to our city.”

The ice rink will be open daily during the following hours:

  • Monday – Thursday from 2 p.m.–10 p.m. (Nov. 26-Dec. 19)
  • Monday – Thursday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. (Dec. 20-Jan. 2)
  • Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.–11 p.m.
  • Sunday from 10 a.m.–10 p.m.

Downtown shops and restaurants will also be taking part in Surf City Winter Wonderland by offering various promotions for the holiday season.

Businesses throughout the area will be decked out in festive holiday décor.

Tickets for the ice rink can be purchased online at or at the rink, availability permitting, for $15 per person. If needed, skate rentals will be available for $5 and skate-aid rentals will be available for $8. Groups of 10 or more will receive a discount, with an online purchase.
