Numbers in three of four categories of coronavirus statistics in Orange County rose in Thursday’s report.
According to the county health care agency, confirmed new cases increased to 314 from Wednesday’s tally of 228. Tuesday’s total was 222. Deaths increased from 11 to 13. The number of patients being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units ticked up from 54 to 55.
However, hospitalizations dropped from 189 to 169.
To date, Orange County has had 313,387 cases, of which 301,918 are considered recovered. The death total is 5,749.
According to The New York Times, new cases are down 1 percent and deaths down 10 percent across the nation, as measured over a 14-day period. In California, Los Angeles Times calculates that new cases have declined 17 percent and deaths 22 percent over a similar stretch of time.
