Sports: ‘Bama reclaims top with big win
The University of Alabama’s football team made a strong case Saturday that it is the best college team in the nation with a 41-24 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship game.
The Bulldogs (now 12-1) came into the game ranked first in the nation, and earlier in the season replaced the Crimson Tide (12-1) in the top spot.
Bryce Young passed for 421 yards and three touchdowns for Alabama. Georgia’s Stetson Bennett had 340 yards passing and three scores, but he also was intercepted twice, with one of those picks returned for a touchdown.
It’s likely – though not certain – that the two teams will nevertheless advance to the four-team College Football Playoffs and could meet again.
