The parents of the teenage boy accused of killing four people and wounding others in shooting rampage at a high school in Michigan were arrested Saturday in what authorities suggest may have been an attempt to flee.

According to the Associated Press, James and Jennifer Crumbley, the two were found hiding in a commercial building in Detroit. Brought before a judge, they both entered pleas of not guilty to the four counts of involuntary manslaughter brought against then,

Prosecutors say they had responsibility for keeping the loaded firearm – recently purchased – away from their child as well as not taking action when they found a violent message written by son Ethan, who is facing murder and terrorism charges.

Defense attorney’s claim the couple was intending to appear in court to answer the charges. Prosecutors reply that the couple had withdrawn $4000 in cash from an ATM before being taken into custody by police.

Sports: ‘Bama reclaims top with big win

The University of Alabama’s football team made a strong case Saturday that it is the best college team in the nation with a 41-24 win over Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

The Bulldogs (now 12-1) came into the game ranked first in the nation, and earlier in the season replaced the Crimson Tide (12-1) in the top spot.

Bryce Young passed for 421 yards and three touchdowns for Alabama. Georgia’s Stetson Bennett had 340 yards passing and three scores, but he also was intercepted twice, with one of those picks returned for a touchdown.

It’s likely – though not certain – that the two teams will nevertheless advance to the four-team College Football Playoffs and could meet again.
